The American Bison became a national animal of the US in 2016. But for years bison were not so loved in America. Once, almost 60 million bison roamed North America through the ice age and through thousands of years in harmony with the native people. In the 19th century, settlers from Europe nearly wiped out bison to extinction. Through a miracle of bison resiliency and the work of conservationists, just a few hundred bison in the wild have grown to almost 30,000 today. The website tells the comeback story of the bison through quiet and atmospheric design that echoes the beauty of the historic beast. Simplicity allows the bison speaks for itself.
