Schartner Design “creates beautiful landscapes that improve the functionality of your outdoor spaces and are sustainably beneficial to our local ecosystem and environment.” They came to me looking for a new logo that expresses their brand. My mission was to design something professional, beautiful, functional, clean, and minimal.
In my sketching I became drawn to the shape of an S and I wanted to bring a leafy or floral element to its organic shape. I noticed the S created a negative space that resembled a leaf. So I started with a typeset S and drew a full leaf in the negative space. Then it was a matter of creating a balance between the S and the leaf. I erased and adjusted lines until the mark felt blended and readable. I then created multiple versions of the logo for the client to use for different applications and contexts.
